Tenebrae Worship
Thu, Apr 18th 7pm - 8pm
Lititz Trinity 44 E. Orange St. Lititz, PA 17543

“Tenebrae” comes from the Latin meaning “shadow” or “darkness”, so it is a service of shadows. Trinity’s Tenebrae service will make use of gradually diminishing light through the extinguishing of candles to symbolize the events of the Holy Week from the triumphant Palm Sunday entry through Jesus’ burial. The increasing darkness symbolizes the approaching darkness of Jesus’ death and of hopelessness in the world without God. The Senior Choir and narrator, Deb McDonald, will lead the congregation in this Tenebrae experience “It Is Finished” through word and song. Holy Communion will also be provided to remember Christ’s sacrifice for each of us. All worshipers will leave in silence to ponder the impact of Christ’s death and await the coming Resurrection.
